About Pearl Street Mall

Pearl Street Mall is the four-block, car-free stretch of Pearl Street in downtown Boulder, between 11th and 15th streets. It is paved in brick and lined with restaurants, coffee shops, bookstores, galleries and independent boutiques. Street performers work the blocks, and benches and patios make it easy to sit and watch.

The mall was dedicated in 1977 and has been the heart of Boulder for more than four decades. The shopping and eating continue for several blocks in either direction, and outdoor gear shops appear on nearly every block between 8th and 23rd streets. Food & Wine magazine named Pearl Street one of the Ten Best Foodie Streets in America.

In winter, lights twinkle along the street in the evening and coffee-shop windows steam up. If you are in town for the Sundance Film Festival in January 2027, the mall is a good first stop for scouting venues in daylight. Our Sundance Boulder page and guide to Boulder without a car cover the rest.
