Let me start by mentioning the staff who made our stay extra special. Moses who was our safari guide was so knowledgeable, kind and caring, my son got sick before hot air balloon and Moses was driving with caution and looking back to make sure he was okay. Violet who room steward noticed I ran out of pads and provided me some without me even asking she knew I needed and ensured I was taken care. Our room was always perfect. Adlight who was our butler was very attentive and friendly our dining was always pleasurable. She knew I couldn’t eat alot and when I asked for smaller portion once she got it for me every-time without me even having to ask. George our camp host was always there ensuring everything was perfect and always greeted with a smile. Robert the photographer was AMAZING he never misses with getting the best photos and he was so personable and really captured our time there. ( I shared some Of my personal photos and ones he took) The head chef Evan’s always ensured my meals were safe as I have an allergy he always came to the table to ensure we were well take care of. The guards were always on time and available to take us to where we needed to be during the night. I truly felt safe even with the noises of the night. Dr. Emmanuel came to my room when my son got sick and was very though and super caring he checked on him throughout the reminder of our stay just to ensure he was back on his feet. William the Shamba manger was so informative and super sweet to my son there was baby chick that just hatched and my son got to hold it. He also showed him and let him hold the worms. He also told me all about the Maasi medicinal garden and explained everything it was truly a special shamba. Lexy our travel planner ensured everything was like a dream. I constantly felt like I was in heaven. This place is truly heaven on earth and the staff there is the best of the best. It was a first but definitely not my last. We had the most incredible trip of our life. Everyone from Ibrahim and Francis and Ekai and Violet, to our walking safari guide, and the gate manager, made us feel incredibly welcome. Unique and Fantastic experience, but just one thing… I would echo all of the glowing reviews and will not add anything on those points, but have one criticism in the hope that management can consider this in future: We were sent some information after booking that included the following on tipping: “as a guideline industry norms are around $40 per couple per day for the guide; $20 per couple per day for the butler; $10 per couple per day for the tent steward; and $15 per couple per day for the general staff.” Our package cost $15,500 for five days and was all inclusive. When we were trying to get the cash for tips before we flew, we realised we were giving $100 per day (suggest tips plus a few other people). This is really not much compared to the price charged, but it’s definitely not “tips”. it’s a hidden cost. Tips are 10-20%. This would imply that various staff are earning hundreds of dollars per day. Some staff look after multiple guests and would be getting tips from all of them. We of course paid all the tips because the staff depend on them and they are lovely people, but it felt a bit off because we are being treated as too dumb to figure out that we are paying salaries not tips and that this is a hidden cost. I’d rather the lodge pay a fair salary and not leave this to the guests. Again, I still give 5/5 and would give 10/10 too. I would suggest that guests are asked to allocated 100 points at the end of the stay among the various staff and then the lodge can give bonuses.Richard La Ruina

We stayed for 5 nights at Angama Mara and we were so sad to leave. Apart from the wonderful wildlife including predators , the ambience of the camp was remarkable . Most important the staff here couldn’t have been more attentive . Our butler Caroline was a real sweetheart and couldn’t do enough for us . Our guide Jackson showed great skill in discovering elusive predators .
